Homecare routine

Good oral hygiene starts at home.  Everyone's oral healthcare regimen will need to be different to account for everyone's different needs.  At Klein Family Dental our hygiene team along with the Doctors will devise, recommend, and educate you on a proper routine to help you achieve and maintain optimal oral health. 

A Basic Routine that Works for 80% of patients

  • Brushing twice a day for 2 minutes each time, either using the Bass Method, or using a Sonicare toothbrush.
  • Flossing one time per day
  • Following an oral hygiene conscious diet
  • Committing to two "professions cleaning" visits per year

This is an example of a foundational hygiene regimen.  We will most likely add to this depending on your specific dental needs. making very personalized recommendations.

Why we believe in sonicare

In our practice we tend to recommend Sonicare toothbrushes.  In our experience, we have found that this is the best battery powered toothbrush on the market.  We have found that it does an exceptional job at improving and maintaining gingival health, and keeping stain at a minimum. 

The bass brushing technique

The Bass brushing technique is a method in which you use a very soft bristle toothbrush held at a 45 degree angle (angled up into the gingival sulcus).  Approximately half of the toothbrush is placed on the tooth structure and half is on the gingival tissue. The toothbrush is then vibrated with small/short horizontal movements.  The goal is to brush 2-4 teeth at a time for about twenty short strokes.  You work your way around the teeth in this manner, making sure to also to the tongue side.
